Ice as a commodity. During post Hurricane Maria recovery, having ice became a luxury. “Ice” is also used as a slang term for diamonds in hip-hop culture due to their similarity in appearance. Cues for ice bags became reminiscent of product release or “drops” from luxury brands such as Supreme or Nike. People fought and queued for hours just for a bag or two of ice just to keep things refrigerated at home.

The planet  is getting warmer and sooner or later ice will indeed be a luxury.
